A Wise God Has Lead You to Where You're At

At staff meeting today our managing director said some things that were very sobering. He said that he had a pretty good idea that many of us had not planned to be working at Grace to You for as long as we have, or even at all. He said "many of us may have had dreams of being elsewhere doing something completely different." He included himself because back 10-12 years ago he was in the midst of deciding whether or not to become a partner at a law firm in Pasadena, something that he was very excited about. But God directed his steps here, and he's genuinely thankful.

So, we may see life working out differently than what we had planned, but we need to recognize that this season of our lives is a gift from God. We need to say, "God, this is your gift for me for now and I'm going to rejoice in it." How easy is it for someone who has for so long dreamed of being somewhere else, to accept that God has directed their steps differently? It can be hard at times, and I speak from experience. It has been so humbling!

He quoted Matthew Henry who said, "Follow providence, don't force it." Then just before our staff meeting was concluded our managing director said, "It often proves best which is least of our own doing." This reminded me of what a Pastor counseled me not long ago, "You need to learn to wait, and don't try to help God because He doesn't need our help." So wait and pray, pray and wait. Be purposeful in everything, and don't wast your life "because the days are evil." God forgive me for stewing about where I am, and what I don't have...and thank You for all I do have in Christ, "who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ!"

Our lives definitely take turns we would have never deliberately chosen. Our way is often a compilation of detours (predictability, comfort, safe guarantees) from the path which leads to life. Proverbs 3:5-6

Yes. That was a sobering meeting for me as well. It's amazing that God knows exactly what we need to hear and has given our boss the eyes to see so clearly and to be so in tune with his employees that he knows what is timely and poignant to say to us.
